Project Page

Welcome to the ODUAIR page

ODUAIR is a study aimed at investigating the feasibility of, and modality for establishing a national carrier of a future Yoruba nation. It is intended as a robust and comprehensive look into all the aspects – including political, social and economic implications of such an endeavour. It should provide answers to various questions surrounding it.
The study report should serve as the basis for future actions.

Raison d'être

A national airline designated as a national carrier is the pride and joy of any nation. It is an important indicator of the good functioning and the unity of the nation. It goes far beyond the economic benefits to the political and patriotism aspects. Successfully running national airlines has not been the preserve of developed nations. Countries of different sizes and of different economic standings and structure run successful national carriers. Countries across the continent of Africa run successful national airlines. From Angola to Zimbabwe, national carriers are considered as part of the image making of the nations. Countries like Ethiopia, Rwanda, Egypt, and neighbouring Ghana run national airlines that could rival those of much more developed nations.

A nation that is unable to operate a national airline could not be expected to be able to operate a successful national economy. A failed national airline is perhaps one of the first indicators of a failed state
